Report: Lvmen and True live in Zagreb, Croatia – 05.06.2009.

Posted on June 15 2009.

Lvmen are currently on a short tour promoting their latest effort “Heron” which we already reviewed on Vile Noise. Last time they were here two years ago and gained only praises for their performance. Around 100 people came to see them this Friday evening, and they certainly didn’t leave disappointed.

The first band on stage was True, a death/grind/crust machine who are incorporating Croatia’ native instrument tamburica into their songs. They had some line up changes, but the core of the band stayed intact creating interesting and intense music.

Despite some technical problems in the beginning they played really well and had an outstanding sound. Check out the interview we did a couple of months ago – they are worth your attention.

After their set it was time for Lvmen to take the stage. Those who already watched them live know that there is almost no communication with the audience and a fantastic VJ-ing set for every song. The band is in the dark and the only light on stage comes from a video wall. I must say this really fits their dark, monumental music.

Since they are promoting “Heron” most of the songs were from that record. Although there were slight problems with the sound during first two numbers, everything went well afterwards. Their drummer is (like the one from True) amazing; I must say I was hypnotized watching him play. Except my favorite “Heron” track “XXI”, they also played some older songs like “VII” from “Raison d’etre”, “II” from their first album and “XI” from “Mondo”.

All in all, a rainy evening with most exceptional bands and a little less people than they deserve.
