Fresh off the heels of their successful and critically acclaimed first US headlining tour, French metal act, Gojira, have been tapped by Metallica to support the first half of their North American fall tour in September and October, along with Lamb of God. Metallica’s self titled release, the Black Album is re-released on vinyl! Available in original 33 1/3 rpm, and 45 rpm deluxe 180 gram vinyl versions for the ultimate Black Album experience.

The music was half speed mastered from the original analog tapes at Mobile Fidelity to bring you audiophile quality. Both versions are available for pre-order now in the Metallica.com Store and start shipping on Monday, November 24.

The long awaited “Death Magnetic” is due out in September and was produced by Rick Rubin and Metallica. Wallpapers of different sizes are available at the official Metallica website here.

Collector types are going to get something special when the new record comes out – “Death Magnetic” in a coffin box! The special edition box will come out the same day the album does and will include the full CD, along with everything next level cool relating to “Death Magnetic”: a CD with the demos of the songs, a DVD of even more “making of the album” footage, a T-shirt only available in this box, a flag, guitar picks, and a fold out poster along with a collector’s credit card embossed with a code to redeem a free download of a special European show happening in September.

While James does cover several topics, what he said about Jason Newsted is certainly going to make headlines: “No disrespect for Jason but Rob has already written more on this album than Jason in 14 years.”
